Cristiano Ronaldo was the surprise inclusion in United's 19-man squad for the trip to Villarreal.
Sir Alex Ferguson had told the Portuguese winger to remain in his homeland following the death of his father last week.
But the 20-year-old winger has been included in the travelling squad and appears likely to play some part in the game.
United decided to make a later-than-usual departure for their European away trip to Villarreal, so as not to disrupt their training preparations for ahead of the game.
It takes an hour to travel from the team hotel in Valencia to Villarreal's El Madrigal stadium, so United decided to hold their training session in Manchester this morning instead.
The Reds usually depart from Manchester airport at around 09:00 BST on the day before European away ties and arrive at their destination around lunchtime.
The players, having rested at the hotel, would then have a training session at the stadium in the early evening.
But United chose to train at 09:30 BST at Carrington on Tuesday morning before a 13:00 BST flight to Valencia.
