Cristiano Ronaldo é um menino-homem despretensioso, que continua a ter um brilhozinho especial no olhar apesar de ser muito mais do que um simples jogador de futebol. Foi elevado a estrela mundial com a camisola do Manchester United, mas também a uma das principais referências de muitas marcas comerciais, que disputam a sua imagem para diversas campanhas publicitárias. Uma sequência natural na carreira meteórica de alguém que soube conquistar o seu espaço com talento, muito talento, e que um dia, que espera seja breve, ainda vai ser reconhecido com o título de melhor jogador do Mundo. Nesta entrevista à Gestifute Media, o número 7 do United afirma que Portugal “tem grandes possibilidades” de vir a ser campeão do Mundo, esclarece, pela primeira vez, que a posição de segundo ponta-de-lança é a sua preferida, passa em revista a época ao serviço do seu clube, garante que ainda vai conseguir ganhar uma aposta a Ferguson [este ano ficou a três golos dos 15 acordados por ambos], revela que até se dá bastante bem com Van Nistelrooy, para além de contar algumas curiosidades, como a de só pretender casar dentro de dez anos ou de se considerar fisicamente “engraçado”. P – Quais são as possibilidade de Portugal vir a ser campeão do Mundo?
R – As possibilidades são bastantes boas. Eu acredito! Acho que temos grandes possibilidades. Sabemos que vai ser uma tarefa complicada, mas possível. Se estamos lá presentes porque não sonhar alto? Mas dando um passo de cada vez. A primeira fase vai ser a mais importante. A partir daí tudo pode acontecer.
P – O que seria uma boa classificação?
R – Semi-final ou final.
P – Tudo o que for abaixo disso é, portanto, mau…
R – Não direi mau, mas será mediano.
P – Quem são os adversários mais fortes?
R – Teoricamente, Brasil, Argentina, Inglaterra e França. Mas o futebol é uma caixinha de surpresas e tudo pode acontecer. Espero que Portugal possa ser surpresa e chegue muito longe.
P – As selecções que acabou de enumerar são, também, as principais candidatas ao título?
R – Claro que sim. São as que têm maior palmarés neste tipo de competição, mas nunca se sabe. Vamos ver o que vai acontecer.
P – A final desejada?
R – Portugal-Brasil.
P – E quais são os seus objectivos pessoais neste Mundial?
R – O meu objectivo é fazer um bom campeonato. É ajudar a minha selecção, como tenho feito até agora, e conseguir brilhar.
P – Não acha que se Portugal fizer uma grande campanha no Mundial isso será um passo em frente para você conseguir o tal título de melhor jogador do Mundo?
R – Vamos ver... Se Portugal fizer uma boa campanha, alguns jogadores podem evidenciar-se e eu espero ser um deles. Vou trabalhar com esse objectivo.
P – Ficou preocupado com a lesão de Jorge Andrade?
R – Claro que fiquei. Todas as internacionalizações que tenho foram todas com ele na selecção. É um grande jogador, já adaptado à nossa forma de jogar, pelo que faz, naturalmente, falta à equipa. Mas temos de estar preparados para a sua ausência. O Jorge não vai estar presente em campo, mas vai estar presente no grupo e isso também vai ser muito importante.

CRISTIANO RONALDO – We have a good chance. I believe it! I think we have a great chance. We know it’s going to be a complicated task, but it’s possible. If we are competing why not dream high? But we have to take one step at a time. The first phase will be the most important. From then onwards anything can happen.

Q – What would be a good tournament?

A – The semi-final or final.

Q – Anything less than that would therefore be poor…

A – I wouldn’t say poor, but it would be average.

Q – Who are the strongest opponents?

A – Theoretically Brazil, Argentina, England and France. But football is full of surprises and anything can happen. I hope Portugal can cause a surprise and go far.

Q – Are the teams you just mentioned also the main favourites to win it?

A – Of course. They are the teams that have the most titles in these tournaments, but you never know. Let’s see what happens.

Q – What final do you want?

A – Portugal-Brazil.

Q – And what are your personal goals for this World Cup?

A – My aim is to have a good World Cup, to help my team like I’ve done up to now and to sparkle.

Q – Do you think that if Portugal have a great World Cup this would be a step forward in your ambition to become the best player in the World?

A – Let’s see... If Portugal have a good tournament some players could stand out and I hope to be one of them. I’m going to work towards that goal.

Q – Were you concerned about Jorge Andrade’s injury?

A – Of course. Every Portugal match I’ve played in he has been in the team. He’s a great player, already adapted to our playing style, so it’s obvious our team will miss him. But we have to be prepared for his absence. Jorge will not be on the pitch, but he’ll be with the squad and this is also very important.
